Introduction

Agile Leadership Workshop

Start your Agile Leadership Journey today by attending an AHA ! awareness leadership workshop.

Your First Step: Awareness of a new Path

Every journey requires an AHA! first step to create the awareness and understanding that there is even a journey out there for you. This Certified Agile Leadership I (CAL I) Workshop provides the awareness of the path and your potential starting point on that path.

Agile Leadership is not something that can be fully learned and practiced in any single education session. Rather, it will require continued learning and practice to develop into an effective agile leader. However, this workshop represents the starting (or reorientation) point on your journey.

learning Modules Explored in the workshop

  • Context for Agility - Participants understand how increasing complexity, uncertainty and rapid change require increasing creativity and agility.

  • Leadership Development - Participants study leadership maturity and how the thinking and behavior in everyday interactions impact an organization’s agile way of working.

  • Catalyst Leadership - Participants explore increasing self-awareness, reducing threat impacts, improving creative agility, seeking feedback, and developing other habits of change.

  • Catalyst Conversations - Participants practice a simple technique to shape culture in every day interactions, reducing threats and increasing creativity and engagement in others in one-on-one discussions, team meetings and broader communications.

  • Organizational Culture and Values - Participants explore organizational culture through a diagnostic to better understand organizational values and their impact on agile ways of working.

  • Leading Change in an Agile Way - Participants learn to differentiate change from its transitional impact on employees to better understand the organization as a complex system and how to guide effective and sustaining change.

  • Agile Ways of Working - Participants explore course-led and participant shared case studies to evaluate governance, metrics, and structures which impede or strengthen organizational agility.

Integrating Organizational Leaders

The workshop is designed for mixing experienced leaders across the business and technical domain - this is not an IT or typical Agile Practice Workshop - this is a leadership workshop focused on leadership mindset and organizational systems. By combining all parts of the business in a single workshop, participants focus on the whole organizational system. As described by participants of this workshop...

"This wasn't training, it was an experience. We were never taught at, we were engaged in a learning experience in which we both participated and contributed. I have never been so engaged and learned so much in just two days."

Understanding that any approach to change only works in the context of the organization in which you are applying it. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, this workshop centers on a culturally-sensitive approach to leadership and change.

“This wasn’t an IT agile workshop, it was a leadership workshop. Leaders across the organization in Finance, Regulatory, Technology, Marketing and other business functions need to attend this workshop together.”

Organizational cultures have different and at times opposing value systems in which adapting agile practices will be significantly impacted. Understanding these cultures and how they impact the leaders influence provides a pragmatic approach to apply.
